Welcome to Matt Wallace Music

Born and raised in Knoxville, TN. Attended Carson-Newman University to play baseball. After derailed by injuries, I found myself trying to fill a void of time that had been filled with baseball since I was a child. My grandfather was a local musician in East Tennessee. I started to find myself drawn to bluegrass music. At the age of 21, I got my first “gig” with the legendary Paul Williams. I recall being in awe of every band that took the stage at every festival we played. As my career advanced, I took a job with the late Audie Blaylock. Since then I have add the pleasure of playing with so many great folks in this genre; David Parmley, Terry Baucom and the Dukes of Drive, Paul Brewster, and Rickey Wasson to name a few. Through the years each of these folks and the great and immensely talented band mates, have left a lasting footprint in my musical identity. I thoroughly enjoy taking a song and making it mine, making it sound as I hear it in my mind. This record is a reflection of those whom have influenced me over the last 20 years. I am so grateful for the lasting friends I have made along the way, some of which graciously shared their talents with me on this endeavor.
